We are very proud to have won our second Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2013. The very special reward for this prestigious award was not only the opportunity for CEO Jim Hart and Managing Director Michelle Littlewood to go to Buckingham Palace and meet Her Majesty The Queen, but all of Europlus Direct were rewarded by a visit from HRH The Duke of Kent.
The Duke was welcomed by Jim Hart and started his visit by meeting a line up of Europlus Direct’s employees followed by a presentation in the boardroom on what Europlus Direct do.
He then met the Europlus Direct’s staff in the downstairs offices and presented The Queen’s Award to Europlus Directs’ longest serving employee Marleen Watts who joined the company in 2005.
As Europlus Direct have only recently moved to their new premises near Leeds/Bradford Airport, the Duke also opened the new office and revealed its official name: Cargill House, named after CEO Jim Hart’s great, great, grandfather William Cargill, an explorer and founder of the Otago settlement in New Zealand.
Everyone enjoyed getting a chance to meet and talk to HRH The Duke of Kent and after spending some time with all of us he said his goodbyes, hopefully not for too long as we are hoping to earn our third Queen’s Award soon!
